"Panama Deception" skillfully deconstructs the mass of official lies surrounding the 1989 US invasion of Panama. The documentary postulates that the invasion directly resulted from a carefully planned plot to renegotiate Jimmy Carter's 1977 treaty, which returns control of the Canal Zone to the Panamanian government by the year 2000. Through interviews with both refugees and government officials, and through their own diligent investigative journalism, the filmmakers paint a picture of a less than benevolent US government wreaking terror in the name of policy.

A straightforward condemnation of the Reagan-Bush policy toward Panama with music by Sting, Jackson Browne and others. Winner of an Academy Award for Best Documentary. Narrated by Elizabeth Montgomery.
